GENERAL This is the MODERATOR echomail conference, and is basically a place for the participants to discuss problems or ideas on the handling of echo moderating and related duties. Unless the noise level gets too high, a thread becomes annoying by being beaten to death, or other rules are violated, it's a place for people of those callings to relax and chat about whatever. RULES OF THE CONFERENCE 00/07/09 1. Who is welcome: a. Moderators: Any of the persons listed under the title "Moderators:" in the current Echolist. b. Fidonet "C" or "EC" members: SysOps with a Fidonet "C" or "EC" position who appear in the current nodelist and identify themselves as a "C" or "EC" at the time of their post in the echo. c. Moderators of Non-Listed and Private echos: If your echo is NOT listed in the Echolist, you may be asked for some verification of your status as a moderator. d. Moderators-to-be: If you are a _serious_ "almost moderator" seeking help to ELIST your echo and get the ball rolling, feel free to post, and we will try our best to assist you. One warning though, please do NOT publicly identify the as yet unlisted title of your proposed echo. 2. There is no permission required to post in MODERATOR, as long as you meet the requirements contained in paragraph #1 above. It would be helpful to other readers if you would occasionally include the name of at least one of the echoes you moderate. 3. The moderator of this echo does not recognize ECROC. If that is the policy of your BBS, I suggest you consider not carrying this echo. 4. Sysops would do well to confirm the moderator status of persons requesting access to this echo from their BBS. It could avoid requests for cut of access of unauthorized persons posting here. 5. Personal attacks, flames, and argument for its own sake are strictly off-topic, and will NOT be tolerated in this conference. Please comment only on the message content, not the person expressing the opinion or stating the fact. 6. Unless initiated by the moderator(s), discussion of the rules of this conference in the echo is off-topic. If you do not agree with these rules, or wish to discuss a ruling made by a moderator, please take your comment to Netmail or EMAIL. You will get a courteous hearing and response. 7. Keep foul or obscene language to yourself and don't quote previous foul language. If you would not say it or repeat it among a mixed company of total strangers, it will not be welcome here. 8. Rest assured that if you find a new way to be annoying, I will make a new rule to cover it. Matt Mc_Carthy Moderator, MODERATOR Fidonet 1:396/1 mmc_c@juno.com
