Here are the rules for the MooseChat echo. Failure to observe any of
these will result in three warnings, the first will be a note in public
 to the offending party stating their offense and again informing them
of their responsibilities. The second warning will be sent to both the
sysop of the system from which the message originated via MooseMail and
to the offending party in public mail. The third warning will be in
public and will result in the banning of the offender from the echo
along with having a non-functioning HST modem being stapled to their
knees.

1. NO FLAMES.

Flames result from the mixture of a volatile substance with too much
oxygen; in the case of BBSes, this means some hothead is spewing and
sucking too much wind. Flames are personal attacks upon someone. If you
feel the need to insult someone, take it to MooseMail. Flames damage
moose as well, and these gentle creatures are very sensitive to being
barbecued. If you think you're going to insult someone, ask yourself,
"Would a Moose do this?".

2. NO COMMERCIAL ADS.

There are established echoes in which one can flog their latest
left-handed spiral widget. This is not one of them.  The three warning
method will again be in place. Mooses live without left-handed spiral
widgets just fine. We suggest you do the same.

3. NO PRIVATE MOOSING IN THE ECHO.

If you feel the need for a private chat, do it by phone or MooseMail.
Many boards do not like private echo messages, and the purpose of these
echoes is to have public discussions.

4. NO BBS ADS.

There is an established echo for these things. If you are a MooseNet
board and feel the need to toot your own horn, do so in BBSAD249,
BBS_ADS, or other suitable echoes.  If they don't like the word
MooseNet, well, don't put it in your ad.  They're probably worried
that MooseNet will take over anyway. :)

5. STAY ON TRACK WITH MESSAGE CONTENT.

This is the MooseChat echo, not Prog249 or Wanda192. Its purpose is to
disseminate knowledge about mooses, to discuss attributes of mooses we
have known and admired, and to enter messages which are a bit more
offbeat than one finds in other echoes.

Sexist or racist language, swearing, and anything else offensive is
 not appreciated here and is grounds for your expulsion if you carry
it on after your second warning. Finally, if these messages seem
"silly" to you, well, just don't read them. That way we all stay
happy.
