The SHAREWARE_SUPPORT Echo. Rules and Guidelines Modified October 01, 1999 This conference is moderated by Thom LaCosta FidoNet 1:261/1352 Internet: baltimoremd@baltimoremd.com Web Page: http;//www.baltimoremd.com/elist/ SHAREWARE_SUPPORT is a product support echo open to all for the discussion, chat, assistance, etc. of Shareware products. Open to all authors, users, distributors, support sites and everyone who uses shareware. Posting a message in this echo will be understood by the Moderator to be a declaration of your intent to abide by these and any other rules that may, of necessity, be formulated. *Post in English Only Please.* 1. The topics of this conference should be related to Shareware, Shareware Support and, related to Shareware, including distributors, authors and users alike. 2. Avoid excessive quoting. Try to quote enough of the message so that the person you are responding to understands the reply and can relate it to what was being discussed. 3. Users are requested to please consider both the QUALITY and QUANTITY of what they post, keeping in mind the costs incurred for moving the mail. 4. If you feel that someone is out of line, please make the Moderator aware of the situation through Netmail, and allow them to follow through. DON'T FLAME. Any messages not on-topic will be considered annoying. *Do not be easily annoyed. Do not be annoying.* In other words.... Be nice. Play fair. 5. Use of handles and or aliases is not allowed. Those people who are logged on to bbs's using an alias should post their real names prominently in the body of each message they post. 6. Discussion of software piracy, including ways to 'register' unregistered shareware will not be tolerated. *CAUSE FOR IMMEDIATE BANISHMENT.* 7. There shall be no bashing of hardware, hardware manufacturers, software programs, software authors or any other individuals. If you have a problem with a program, company or piece of equipment and want to discuss it in an effort to get some help, fine, but let's not tear something down unless you can offer constructive suggestions for building it back up. *There will not be any widget wars.* That's it, except that if someone comes up with a new and improved way to aggravate people, I reserve the right to make a rule to fit the occasion. Cavaet: Please Remember the Following, you have entered into an agreement with the author when you use their programs. This can be enforced. The Copyright is enforced through the Agreement you are a party to the minute you start using the evaluation copy. If you use it beyond the evaluation period and you have not paid the Copyright holder (or his authorized agent) for it, then you are infringing on his/her Copyrights. These Guidelines are subject to change at any time. The moderator's word is the final authority. NOTE: Moderator Emeritus: Gord Hannah Quote from echomail: After due consideration and deep thought I have decided to turn the reigns of this echo to Thom Lacosta. This was my decision based on Thom's and my past working relation ship in a couple of other areas beside ARTWARE. NOTE: He has NOT and I repeat NOT highjacked either one of these Echoes, I asked him to take them over. Quote from email: I am cutting back on my work load here and am wondering if you would like to take over the following two echoes, one is slow the other has mostly file announcements, not much to read actually. ARTWARE and SHAREWARE_SUPPORT, I will provide you with all you need and post the changes as per my request in the appropriate echoes, ie: the affected echoes and Elist, Z1_backbone to alleviate any concerns others may have. This change can be instituted at any time you feel comfortable with it. End of quote. As some of you will recall Thom and I have fought hard to keep this echo alive and a viable forum to offer assistance and news about our favourite ARTWARE and SHAREWARE products. Please extend the same courtesy and consideration to Thom as you have me, I will no doubt be popping in once and awhile. Thom will notify all when the transition is complete. Thanks for not giving Thom a rough ride over these, Remember I asked Him. Fair enough I hope. Thom LaCosta Moderator SHAREWARE_SUPPORT
