I'm not really impressed so far to be honest.  An interesting application at

First problem:  CHances are pretty good when the stuff hits the fan that part
of the infrastructure that you're going to lose is going to be the internet.
TElpack on two meters isn't going to get you outside the disaster zone worth a

with folks interfacing with it a lot, both through the maritime mobile service
network and our shiptrack and marob reporting and with national traffic system.
 IT works well for the folks at sea, and wi Also the weather information
theblue water sailors provide to noaa is beneficial to them.

FOr nts traffic:  The older pactor system had some strengths that winlink
doesn't.  Numero uno, traffic all goes pont to point on the winlink system, and
there's too much human overhead needed to route traffic.


YOu really want my views and those of folks who know?  VIsit www.emcomm.org and
check out the views of the folks who edit/public emcomm monthly. I'd sooner
trust good ol' cw and ssb on hf to get the job done. A neat toy, but... just a
toy.
A rather expensive toy at that.
