Welcome back!  <G>   As you can see, I'm still running a bit behind...
I'm reading/answering in spurts, but haven't quite come close to getting
back on top of things...  and it's likely to get worse before it gets
better, as I have a few trips scheduled in the next couple of months.

If you are staying put, we might actually get a proper conversation
going, though... ;)

Now that sounds like a lot of fun.  :)  I think I'd've made the same
choice, and enjoyed it.  :)

How much of the countryside can you see from the bullet train?  Isn't
that the one that goes VERY fast?  I haven't had a lot of experience
with trains, and none with the really fast ones, but I've mostly enjoyed
what experience I have had.  :)  I got the BritRail pass a couple of
times for trips to GB, and used it well.  Twice I used sleeper cars to
maximize my travel time, and once I did an all-day excursion from
Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness and back to Edinburgh, on a Saturday
when I wasn't going to be able to do much research (with the facilities
closed for the weekend).  I was gone from before sunrise to after sunset
and enjoyed myself thoroughly the whole day.  :)
