With NASCAR's new aerodynamics rules, "It was like driving a razor blade,"

On Saturday, Mara Reyes, 27, will seat herself behind the wheel of a
750-horsepower stock car and try to rocket her way into history by becoming
the first Mexican woman to qualify for an official NASCAR event. The
following day's race, the Telcel Motorola Mexico 200, is a benchmark itself
-- the first NASCAR event on Mexican soil. Mexican racing giants Adrian
Fernandez and Michel Jordain will headline the Mexico City NASCAR race, but
event organizers hope obscure Mexican drivers like Reyes will be hot on
their tailpipes. Nine drivers, including Reyes, from the Desafio Corona, or
Corona Challenge, a new Mexican stock car series, will try to qualify for
the big race.

Teammates are a good thing...sometimes By Sharon Bundy

Having a teammate is a blessing and a curse. In the past we have seen where
teammates have been beneficial. For example, DEI at restrictor plate tracks.
For years they have perfected the idea of teammates helping teammates. In
fact, drivers started using competitors to acheive their goals. And finally,
other teams started seeing the results of the success of DEI. Sometimes it
works, other times it doesnt.

Kurt Busch noted that Ford drivers have won the last two Nextel Cup
championships but have been far outpaced by Chevrolet drivers in terms of

The problem, he said, is quantity, not quality.
"If we look at just the straight-up lineup ... that the quantity of Fords is
lacking, compared to the Chevrolets," Busch said.
