IMO the after-credits sequence was a waste as most people aren't going
to sit there to even see it. It's a pretty crucial plot resolution
that should have been dealt with before the credit roll!

A sad ending for a decent character. It really sets an unven tone with
the character acting like a jerk for 20 minutes and then getting killed
-- and no resolution nor chance for him to redeem himself. Sloppy.

IMO it felt too rushed, and too much under the wire to stick as many
mutants in there in one last hurrah -- ultimately giving none of them
any reasonable screen time, in particular Kitty and Peter.

Some glaring scene continuity and editing problems as well.... Magneto
moves the GG bridge in daylight, yet when they get to Alcatraz it's the
dead of night! Also, everyone *assumes* a particular character is dead
with practically no evidence. The Beast not commenting that he's now
blue and hairy becuase he was trying to cure his mutation is a curious
omission. Cain Marko is now a mutant because it takes up too much
special effects/action time to explain with a line or two that he
isn't a mutant?. I felt like half the film was missing.

The plot is essentially the reverse rehash of the first film --
Magneto wants to quash a 'cure' that turns mutants into humans, versus
a plot hatched by Maggie to turn all humans into mutants. There were
so many more interesting plotlines to choose from -- The *real* Dark
Phoenix storyline, The Sentinels/Master Mould, Proteus, The Mimic
storyline, Apocalypse, Moorlocks -- hell, I'd take the X-men fighting
El Tigre and Frankenstein's monster (two of the lamer stories from the
original comic).. The Days of Future Past tease at the beginning only
ends up making me feel even more cheated.

The first two films took what was good about the X-men concept and
adapted it to the big screen, threw out what didn't work or tweaked
what was hokey and dated for a modern audience. A beautiful balance
between a casual crowd-pleasing film with enough continuity winks for
the comic book geeks. The third film succeeds in insulting the
intelligence of both types of moviegoers.
