most do know their status and do have birth certificates.  for me the 
fact that no one (immigration services) asked to see any of it all 
through elementary and high school (note:  even though a birth certif 
must be on file with most schools the information is used not to 
determine legal statue but to confirm that students are in fact school 
age and the parents therefore in compliance with laws requiring kids 
to be in school by age 5/6 depending on their birthdate) tells me that 
no wall, no matter how high, will solve our illegal immigration 
problem when we lack the basic tools/coordination/will to enforce laws 
that already exixt.  if we can't find someone 'hiding' in plain sight 
within the 18 years or so it takes them to get to college, i'm 
thinking they get to stay.
