There's a place in Memphis, I haven't found the Nashville equal of yet,
called Best Pizza In Town. It pretty much lives up to its name. The founder
is a retired aviation engineer who liked his pizza loaded to the bulkheads.
Thin crust, but not too thin, lots of toppings. No wedge cut, instead cut
into 3" squares, and the toppings still had a hard time staying on.

Up here, East Nash has two contestants for the title of Best in Town:
Italia, on Woodland, and Little Italy, also on Woodland but almost in
downtown. It's about two blocks from Titans Stadium. (I refuse to call it LP
Field.)

The irony is, these places have little Italian about them apart from the
name. Italia is owned and run by an Egyptian, Salim Mahmoud, and Little
Italy is run by this tiny woman in a burkha and her gangly American husband,
who looks like he's mostly Irish. And she makes some really good pizza.

If there's a gourmet pizzeria here, it's probably out in the Rich Folk's
part of town, Green Hills. Closest thing to it I've heard about is either
DaVinci's or PizzaReal. I stay away from highfalutin' joints. Pizza started
out as a workingman's lunch, and should stay that way. You get anywhere near
me with a pizza topped with  goat cheese, Peking duck and asparagus and I
will do things to you that modern medicine has no treatment for.
