straying slightly off topic here, maybe :^)  it often seems to me that
the existence of the female hymen (and the absence of a 'male hymen' )
as an indicator of 'purity' created (set the stage for) the need for
original sin.   turns the fact that men (traditionally) bring women
into 'knowledge' on its head, so to speak.
