I try to be. And to question my underlying beliefs. Which led me way
back when to conclude that there's truth in both the liberal and
conservative philosophies and their subdivisions, that they merely
represent opposite sides of the dialectic, like Vorlons and Shadows,
or two attorneys at a trial. Out of the two philosophies comes our
state vector. And the philosophies move with it. What we end up with
is really a fairly narrow spread, at least in the politics of a
democracy.

Which isn't to say that I don't have strong political opinions! That
they're left-leaning is partly a consequence of who I am as a person,
and partly that I feel the country has moved too far to the right, and
partly that I don't like what's happened to the national GOP, and
partly that I think Bush doesn't have what it takes for the job, and
partly that the modern conservative movement doesn't seem interested
in the conservative positions that might appeal to me.

Seems to me that the Dems are the ones who have been protesting casual
violence, while the Republicans have been protesting casual sex, with
neither party particularly serious about doing anything about it.

Haven't come across that one, albeit Michael Moore came pretty close.
