It was an almost-one-night-stand.

Lennier was already on that course.  As I noted before, Morden was the 
only one who could have really imparted that message, being the one 
person Lennier knew he absolutely could not trust.

There's that too.  Then again, if you go by some of the background 
picked up about him, such as in "The Shadow Within", perhaps Morden was 
never really as "dark" as Lennier is becoming at this point.

Except he didn't know it was Morden immediately.  He heard the voice, he 
lunged... and put his pike up to the newspaper Morden was holding in 
front of his face.  When Morden lowered the paper, it took Lennier a 
moment to even recognize him - recall that Lennier had never had a lot 
of close dealings with Morden but knew of his deeds more through what he 
had heard and been told by Delenn.  Thus his initial confusion, followed 
by the surprise that it was not who he'd expected to see.
