My German was long ago -- I probably wouldn't have any left at all if I=20
weren't a part-time opera singer -- but, as far as I can tell, this=20
corresponds exactly to the English text I was using, and, like it, does=20
not specifically say anywhere that her hair is black; either the word is=20
not applied to any specific part of her at all, or it is applied to her=20
eyes. ("So lag Sneewittchen lange, lange Zeit in dem Sarg und verweste=20
nicht, war noch so wei=DF als Schnee, und so roth als Blut, und wenns die=
=20
Aeuglein h=E4tte k=F6nnen aufthun, w=E4ren sie so schwarz gewesen wie=20
Ebenholz, denn es lag da, als wenn es schlief.") Her hair is mentioned=20
only in connection with the poisoned comb.

Nevertheless, as I said before, I freely admit that Snow-White's hair,=20
like King Balthazar, is black but comely.
