Now, for the past several months, until I moved into my new house last 
month, I lived in an area that ONLY had PO boxes.  No home USPS 
delivery.  Of course, you could still get home delivery from UPS and 
Fedex, but there was a problem... UPS started shipping using the USPS! 
For their Ground service, it went UPS to a site near you, then they sent 
it via USPS for the final leg.

Well, out in Borrego, this was a major problem.  Since it was going UPS 
part of the way, it COULDN'T have a PO Box.  However, since Borrego only 
had PO Boxes, it HAD to have the PO box on it.  If it just had your 
address, there was a 50% chance they would just send it back (and they 
did!) even if they knew which street addresses went with which box 
number.  Last Christmas was a nightmare, with about half the stuff we 
ordered getting mis-delivered or sent back.

Of course now, that I have a home address, it has only been in the last 
week that USPS has been delivering here.  Seems that the numbers in our 
address didn't "match up" to the valid numbers in their database, so we 
couldn't possibly exist!  It still takes a week to get our mail.  I 
think it needs to be manually sorted, so it end up in a big pile of 
'invalid' mail until someone has time to go through it!

Of course this is an improvement.  Originally, our numbers 13887 were 
close enough to a 'valid' number - 68887 that both USPS and UPS decided 
that someone was just putting the number on wrong!  Nice when a $700 
water filter system gets delivered to the wrong addres...
