I don't know much about the business at all but I do gather that certain
protocols need to be observed.  Just as JMS couldn't announce the Lost Tales
project until WB gave him permission.  Just as he *couldn't* say anything about
the rumored game yet, although he'd hoped to.  A supposedly casual conversation
might be construed as an offer if conversations were held informally even just
to check interest and availability.  Whatever other relationship JMS might have
with the actors, it seems to me that he has to maintain a certain formality in
his business relations with them.

I can think of two situations right off the top of my head where JMS has given
actors information that they in turn tried to use to their advantage.  Just as
a
quick example, JMS has said that he'd let Claudia Christian know how her role
was going to be expanded for Season 5 and look at the stunt she pulled,
thinking
that she wasn't replacable and could use that to her advantage.

Who knows what kind of negotiations would take place with this sort of project?

Others have wondered if deals would be made segment-by-segment or for blocks of
them?  I don't know and it may well be different for each actor depending on
what JMS has planned.
