Beautiful job of ignoring context. It's just great in the English
language how context in paragraph one has a direct impact on paragraph
two, and what both are stating together is the main point.

If you read my reply you would have seen I offered further context to
my argument.

Although I respectfully disagree with Wesley Struebing argument, his
argument addressed what I was actually advocating. Really, read his
post. Which for the record I agree with the part of his counter
argument that stated:

>>It's going to cost FAR more in terms of money, time,
blood, sweat, and tears to accomplish what you're asking to be done.
The money and time used to get to Mars and back is a drop in the
bucket, literally, compared to what you're asking for.<<

I don't think he's wrong here. I do think he's wrong here:

>>'Sides, the catchup ain't ever gonna happen (in spite of what Star Trek
may imply...) <<

But you will note he didn't take anything I said out of context.

I would hate to have a professor that graded my research projects this
way. "Well Arlen you said 'X' in paragraph one so you get an F". But
then didn't think about how what was said in paragraph two says 'Y'.
You see when you take several ideas together, idea X, Y, and Z, you are
left with something that is more then the sum of it's individual parts.

Now if something I stated in idea X, Y, or Z is based on false
information or an out right lie, that's a totally new ballgame. You've
got fair ground to kick out the legs I'm standing on one false leg at a
time. If you see that, feel free.

But please don't pick and choose bit by bit saying, "Oooo, you said
this!" but then not pointing out "Well you also said this."

Great job of taking what I myself have said (and you even quoted it)
and using it in a very bastardized context against something I wasn't
even talking about. And using it like you just thought of it and I'm
somehow disagreeing with you.

I stated that >>There is the argument that it's scientific curiosity,
but sending people to Mars *BEFORE* we have much *FASTER*, *SAFER*, and
cost effective means of transportation leaves me content to use
unmanned probes for *THE TIME BEING*.<< (not forever)

But yes, we need manned exploration of space NOW in order to make
breakthroughs in space travel. Because we all know that the
breakthrough of Ion propulsion came from the manned exploration of
space. Oh wait, no it didn't.

But as far as "money" goes, you will note I said TIME and MONEY. I
assumed (my mistake) that most people would understand that this
qualifies itself as talking about the amount of effort or blood and
sweat involved what a given project. Sorry, my bad.

Normally I don't get upset if someone disagrees with me, but it really
ticks me off if someone attacks my opinions, feelings, or beliefs with
the straw man argument.
