You know what else occurs to me is that in a way, this is a (potentially) 
very serious breach of the kind of relationship you would expect/hope anyone 
who played  a role in B5 and ever wanted to have anything to do with 
anything B5 in the future would have/want to have with jms.  It's like the 
"contract" we all have in participating here not to pitch story ideas while 
we're here.  Sure, some of us (well, me anyway <G>) have written B5 stuff 
and let it be known to other fans where it can be read, but we've taken 
pains not to discuss the contents of it in anyway here on the off-chance it 
might queer something jms already had planned/may plan in the future for the 
characters we know and love.  When they're actively engaged in *acting* in 
B5 and thus are *working with* jms, it's a completely legitimate and 
probably desirable thing for an actor to pitch an idea for their character 
to him to see if he likes it, as Bill Mumy was famously said to have 
suggested that Lennier was in love with Delenn.  That keeps everyone's real 
life roles in place -- you are the actor and you are making suggestions 
about how you would like to portray your character to give him or her more 
fullness, and the writer/producer or even director agrees or disagrees with 
the idea and lets you add it in or scripts something specifically to meet 
your request.  That's cool.

But when you start writing your own stories and *publishing them* against 
jms' specific wishes, you are also then constraining his ability to do 
anything with your character that you write about.  *Especially* if you are 
a former B5 actor and thus persons such as the original poster begin to 
think there is something authorized or particularly informed about your fan 
fic because of your relationship to the show.  How can jms ever write 
anything now about Susan Ivanova's future as a Warlock class ship Captain 
without having to *pay Claudia Christian* for the right to do it in order to 
avoid her being able to turn around some day and sue *him* for copyright 
infringement of "her" ideas?  She's as good as permanently "killed" Ivanova 
for any future episodes, movies, series, *authorized* books, *authorized* 
comics, etc.

You know, you couple this with her much earlier breech with the series, 
*and* the fact that she at best "misinterpreted" and at worst, out-right 
lied about what transpired in the conversations between her and jms and I 
can only conclude that Claudia Christian, while still wanting to benefit 
financially off her connections with the show, is incredibly, incredibly 
stupid.

Ivanova is dead!  Chalk one "main human character" off of the list of 
"stories we'll be seeing on DVD."
