I just ordered my copies of the Technomage trilogy from Jeanne, having
read them through the local library. While I have my doubts about it
happening, I would LOVE to see that writing style applied to a Crusade
novelization.

(begin rant-of-questionable accuracy, for lack of my familiarity of the
details of this)

FWIW, I think it's a shame to see the Mongoose developments go as badly a=
s
they have. Any Crusade novelization is going to need WB approval, and
given that they've probabbly already spent some lawyer money on the deal
with Mongoose, I worry that this one crashing and burning will bury any a=
nd
all possibility for a WB-authorized novel ever happening again. To
be horribly corny and cliche, history may prove that "Mongoose publishing
was our last best hope for Crusade; it failed".

It sounds to me like Sprange was just another guy who was unfortunate
enough to get jerked around by WB. After being told some fairly odd and
jms-contrary things, he invested time and money in making this project
work, only to have jms pop up and say that it should never happened, that
he knew nothing about it, and that he wouldn't endorse it, as was his
right given his involvment in the project through WB (or lack thereof). I=
t
seems like it was at this point, faced with that time and effort being pu=
t
to waste by factors he didn't/couldn't have seen, Sprange got frustrated
and defensive, and perhaps handled his response poorly.

Bottom line, if we never see an authorized continuation of the Crusade
storyline in our lifetime, it won't be because of JMS or Mongoose. It's
just WB doing the business they've always done.
