it seems to have been because you haven't appeared to be speaking of FREQs in
the _FIDONET_ sense of their definition... unless i'm highly mistaken, FREQs
were invented by fidonet to make it easier to move files around... more
specifically so that the sysop of a system didn't have to go manually log on to
some other system and manually get the files... as long as both systems are
fidonet systems and the remote has FREQs enabled, one only need send a FREQ and
get the file...

your part of the conversation seemed to point to a lack of understanding as to
what a FREQ is and how it works from oth sides of the equation... this is why
there's several trying to explain this stuff to you ;)

you do lead a sheltered life if you think there are no linux based ftn
mailers... binkd is but one... there's at least two or three bbs' that also
include mailers and i know of two or three other standalone jobbers that were
the very first ones...

if your system doesn't support FREQs then why does your nodelist entry fly the
XX flag? X? flags indicate FREQs are supported and should not be used if FREQ
capabilities are disabled... you seem to be indicating that you have them
disabled...

i dunno as i havn't ever gotten a files listing from your system... you've
pointed out, in the past, that you do move stuff via ftp but it appeared that
you were speaking of that from the client side instead of from the server
side... other than stuff for ttylinux, i don't have any idea what you may have
available if anything at all...

FWIW: generally speaking, the first FREQ to a system will be for their files
listing document... generally the magic name of FILES, ALLFILES or FILELIST is
used... magic names were created to provide a uniform name to request no matter
what the underlying filename really is... FREQing FILES from my machine will
get you WALDOS.ZIP whereas FREQing FILES from your machine might get COFFIN.ZIP
or COFFNPNT.ZIP or whatever you may call it ;)  the actual list inside would be
similar to those goofy ftp 00index files except without all the paths and
directories listed ;)
