As a Realtor I have seen hundreds of installations, some good, some bad.
It is a wonderful heat distribution system as long as it doesn't leak.
Through the years the plastic people have come up with better and better
tubing. The problem is that a mixture of hot water with dissolved
oxygen, glycol (prudent in severe climate areas), and dissolved iron
(from the boiler and the headers) is quite corrosive and many plastics
degrade in a decade or two. Replacement under floors is expensive and in
slabs impossible.

The first product Solor Roll is discontinued and the object of a major
class action suit. The next ones, Poly B and Kortex, turned out to be
not much better. The newest product Pex (a rigid gray plastic) looks
promising but we won't really know for another ten years.

Systems can be protected by running at lower temps (which means running
longer cycles), copper headers, stainless steel heat exchangers inside
the boiler and annual pH tests and flushing if called for by the tests.

Up here, if the heat goes out because the power goes out, all the water
in the lines will freeze unless there is an adequate amount of glycol
in the mix. Then the whole system bursts and springs hundreds of leaks.
But hot glycol is corrosive so the lines degrade over time. You can't
win. (Except by using very expensive copper lines.)

I still prefer in floor over rads and boilers over furnaces though.

  Servings: 4

           TOFU/VEGETABLE MIXTURE:
      7 oz tofu, preferably firm
      1 TB hatcho [soybean] miso
      3 TB water
    1/4 c  toasted sesame oil
      4    cloves garlic, peeled,
           pressed or minced
      1 bn scallions (white and light
           green parts only), sliced
           into 1 inch pieces
      2 c  sliced broccoli
      1 ts Tamari sauce (or soy sauce)
    1/4 ts cayenne pepper
           PASTA:
  1 1/2 qt water
    1/2 ts salt
      8 oz uncooked soba (buckwheat
           noodles) or linguine
      1 TB butter, room temperature
           TOPPING:
      2 TB toasted sesame seeds

Prepare tofu: If not using firm or extra-firm tofu, freeze tofu. Thaw.
Squeeze dry. Cut tofu into 1/2-inch pieces.  (You'll have about 1 1/2
cups.)  Set aside.

Boil water (for pasta):  Pour 1 1/2 quarts of the water into large
saucepan.  Add salt.  Bring to a boil.

Cook vegetables and tofu:  While water is heating, whisk miso with
remaining 3 tablespoons water until smooth.  Set aside.  In large
skillet or wok, heat oil over medium flame.  Add garlic, scallions, and
broccoli.  Saute for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.  Add tofu, tamari
sauce, and cayenne pepper.  Saute for 5 minutes longer.  Turn off flame
under pot and stir in miso mixture.

Cook pasta:  Meanwhile, add pasta to boiling water and cook as directed
on package (usually 5 minutes for soba, or 9 for linguine). Drain well.
Transfer to serving dish.  Toss with butter.

Serve:  Pour vegetables and tofu over buttered pasta.  Evenly sprinkle
with sesame seeds.  Serve hot.

Variations:  Substitute other vegetables (e.g., asparagus) for broccoli.
