On the grits, thats fine then. If you ever want to try making them, they are
easy. Just follow the package directions and if they seem a little too thin,
let them heat a bit longer. My idea of perfect ones, is about as thick as
oatmeal. They should not taste 'watery' (which is how they taste if you start
with too much water then boil it down. A little extra water is harmless but
if you have like, doubled the water, they taste nasty even once thickened up).

For boil-in-bag, I dont mind the concept. They can be pretty fast for lunches
at work. There's one they have here that is a ground pork patty, which is
really excellent. I get them from time to time.

Bill said she got one, much like mine. We ended up splitting the 50lb bag of
rice 3 ways. We warned her to not make rice every night just now. She's
adapting nicely to the 'cheap starch of Japan'.

I didnt play here last night, because I was exporting recipes useful to her,
that are made mostly with a ricemaker in mind.

Her family is used to 'separatist rice' (where each grain hates the other so
stays as separate as possible ;-).

She's adapting to ricemaker so we explained how to balance the water to get
something closer to what she is used to in looks out of a medium grain
calrose.
She made one pot too wet so I trotted over with 5 cups of chicken stock and
some fixin's and we turned it into 'American Congee' (no seafood, some bacon
and ham bits). (Yes, she lives in housing, but 3 floors above us. I didnt
know that earlier but Bill found out when he was taking her to the exchange to
get a rice maker).

LOL! We can just call him a hot-dog now eh?

I seldom buy in bulk here, except toilet paper. Unless there is a major price
difference, I get the regular sized things.
