My main experience with those very low temperatures has been,
strangely, in the hot, desert regions of Australia; designing liquid
nitrogen and oxygen fuelling systems for satellite launch vehicles.
Also, I have read of problems our early Antarctic explorers had with
steel parts of their sleds breaking.  When they used sleds and dog
harnesses similar to those which your Innuit folk had evolved over the
centuries, they had no more trouble.

      Title: Ginataang Talong
 Categories: Filipino, Vegetables, Vegan
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
      1    Onion
      1 c  Coconut cream
           Salt and pepper to taste
           Talong- eggplants
 
  Roast eggplants in oven or over gas flame.  Peel and chop fine. Peel
  onions and slice crosswise very fine. Heat oil in pan, add onions and
  fry until translucent.  Add eggplants, stir for a couple of minutes.
  Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat, add coconut cream, let
  sit several minutes to develop the flavours.
