Three hours later Carol comes back to tell you she has found the

Some shops - particularly in the Philippines - have small baking ovens
in the shops for breads like pandesal, which is best eaten hot, only
minutes after being taken from the oven, put in a brown paper bag (not
plastic!) and rushed home, cut open and the butter melted in.  I'm
sure I have seen those little ovens in Singapore...  I have seen the
steamers cooking siopao.  The best of those I ever had was bought from
an Indian-Chinese place in a back street of Little India.

Certainly.  So far the only fairly firm dates I have for this year are
Auckland in September for wedding of first grand-daughter and Manila
in December-January.  Other possibilities are Singapore-Melaka, Perth,
Vietnam and India.  It is almost certain that I will go North when the
temperature here drops to single figures (Celcius, of course).

As far as I know Jestart is an el cheapo subsidiary of Qantas.  There
has been talk recently of Q buying an unnamed SE Asian cut-price
airline.  Jet*Asia and Tiger Air would be likely targets.  They are
not quite up to the Virgin Blue standard.  :(((

I did that once, to read the top and bottom ends of the scale.  I
certainly would not be comfortable sleeping at Jackson's airport, PNG.

Surely not!  Not when it is Uncle who is softly snoring there with his
mouth hanging open.  I would expect them to arrange the blanket and

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Pan De Sal > Complete Bread Book
 Categories: Breads, Breakfast, Filipino
      Yield: 16 Servings
 
     15 g  Shortening
      1 tb Salt
      1 tb Sugar
    225 ml Boiling water
    225 ml Warm water
      1 tb Active dry yeast
    450 g  Strong flour
    110 g  Plain, unsweetened crackers
           Crumbled
 
  Makes 16 buns. in a large mixing bowl, combine the shortening, salt,
  sugar and boiling water. Stir and leave the mixture to cool. Add the
  warm water and sprinkle in the yeast.  Leave it for 15 minutes.
  Gradually mix in the flour to make a dough.  Turn it on to a floured
  work surface and knead it until it is smooth.  return it to the bowl,
  cover it and leave it in a warm place until it has doubled in size.
  Knead it again. Preheat the oven to 425F/220C.  Divide into sixteen
  round buns. Roll the pieces in the cracker crumbs and lay them on
  floured baking sheets, spread well apart. Leave them in a warm place
  for 20 minutes to prove. Bake the buns for 15 minutes and cool them
  on wire racks. **Typed for you by two of Jazzbel's fingers to post on
