I'm from the SOUTH....boiling oil is a natural for us...we're exposed to it
from 
birth (grin)! In any case fry them is what I did (not deep fried mind you) and 
they were'nt really bad...just not a lot of meat on them.

our temps were in the 30's....but the wind was a steady 15-20 with very few 
gusts, just an unremitting cold pressure that kept blowing my hood back. It 
was much nicer when we finally gave up and went back towards the car...the 
wind was then at our backs and was MUCH easier to deal with. But we spent 
a good five hours out in it and there was plenty of soft sand to slog 
through...and I'll tell ya I was exhausted when I was done! At least you could 
have called a cab...or ducked into the nearest shop along the avenue for a 
bit of warmth and rest.
