My father had a Wang calculator when they first came out - it
was the size of a modern desktop computer, cost something
like $4K, and was the envy of the Texas Medical Center.

When the TIs came out shortly thereafter, everyone was buzzing
about how they could do everything a Wang could do for just a
few hundred bucks. And now we have Windows. Sort of Moore's
and Gresham's laws rolled into one.

Them was the days.

The Early Times Mint Julep Recipe 
cat: booze
yield: 1 batch

2 c sugar
2 c water 
Sprigs of fresh mint 
Crushed ice 
2 oz Early Times Kentucky Whisky per person
Silver Julep Cups 

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for
5 min. Cool and place in a covered container with six or
eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight.
Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with
crushed ice, adding 1 Tb mint syrup and 2 oz of Early Times
Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost
the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint. 
The best times are enjoyed responsibly.
