I like creamy food, in its place. But Akbar's was all way
too bland, er, subtle. It was probably the one place on earth
where Carol had lentils that she couldn't eat.

Yes ... I'd prefer a ratio of two spicy dishes per creamy one.
Carol might like those figures reversed. But in any case all
bland all the time is not my idea of fun.

No worries - all you have to do is find a participating
restaurant once a year or so to keep your miles current.

Thanks for the link. There are some things that look different
from Pachanga, but I'm sort of dubious about a couple aspects,
for one, the fact that there are only two hot dishes on the
menu (yes, I got up at 5 am and looked at the whole menu), and
they seem to be constructed, as it were, and not real food; and
also the breathless prose is irritating - as is the naming of
the place after a Mexican terrorist.

What's the Columbia Association? Members of it, and also
active military, get 20% off.

Pachanga used to have a Monday buffet, I hear, but the place
did well enough with its coupons that it's jam-packed almost
every night we've been there.

Downtown simmered spinach
cat: veggie
servings: 4

2 ts olive oil
1 c sliced mushrooms
1/2 leek, sliced thin
- or 4 sliced green onions
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 c reduced-sodium chicken broth
10 oz spinach
1 Tb drained sun-dried tomatoes, julienne
1 ts soy sauce
s, p

Saute mushrooms and leek 5 min or until tender.
Add garlic and cook 30 sec. Add broth. Bring to a
boil. Add spinach, cover, reduce heat to medium.
Cook 3-5 min until spinach is tender. Stir in
tomatoes and soy sauce. Correct seasoning. Serve warm.
