I'm coming to YK on the next flight with a few hundred gecko eggs and
gecko caves; I will make my fortune!  OTOH, that market might become
saturated fairly quickly...

Possibly, but using native Canadan ingenuity, someone in your family
may be able to knock up (Australian term meaning "to make something
roughly and quickly") an equivalent "cave" which would bring tears of
joy to unlidded eyes of Buddy.

That should be adequate.  Did the pet shop also sell the high-priced
sun lamp?

A permanent pool of water would help.  Even better if you can get
mosquitoes to breed in it.

Remember to change the oatmeal from time to time, and keep the farm
well ventilated, as it will develop an ammonial smell from the worm
faeces as the population increases.  A fine wire mesh top is better
than small holes in a tin lid.
