Never had any of those...but when mother in law from New York comes out 
to visit she brings several dozen bagels along for us to put in the freezer.

I'm not so regionalized on pizza, and we used to have some pretty good pizza 
places out here in Tacoma (we had a fairly large Italian community at one 
time) I did not grow up eating pizza so I have no childhood taste to reference 
to. I'm trying to remember the very first pizza I ever had and I think it was 
something like a chef boyardee make it at home thing and was not really that 
impressive...First REAL pizza I had was 1965 when we came back to 
the 'States from France...and it was at a Shakey's Pizza parlour...with a 
banjo player and piano player and sing alongs and very very "campy" even 
back then. And whaddya mean bland cheese? Most pizza's I've come across 
no matter where use mozz, and mozz is one of the more bland cheeses 
around. I like a mozz provalone mix with parmesan or asagio on top...And 
what puts zip in a tomato sauce for you?

Not quite hopeless but not as genericly available out here...and for BBQ I DO 
have hardwired childhood references to gauge by and they are pretty high 
standards. Most of the folks who've come out here for echo picnic's have 
eaten at Porter's and that's pretty good bbq....my sauces are better than 
theirs but they do pretty good on the meat...and there's the (I think I'm 
remembering the name right) Boar's Den...where the smoked meat is 
superb...but the sauce is nothing more than ketchup thinned with water! UGH!

And pitiful is giving it a lot more respect than it usually deserves!

We have lots of both here, and Scandinavian fishermen do a great job of 
keeping us supplied with great seafood choices!
