I was thinking of what his childhood must have been like.
And what a relief getting that first driver's license must
have been. Imagined conversation:

There was this pile of soaps 'n' stuff on the dining table,
and I said what's this, and she said, that's soap for the
Sacerdotes, and I said, why not send it, and she said, I
haven't had time, and I hate standing in line at the post
office. Months later there was this pile of soaps 'n' stuff

and she said, oh, it's lost its fragrance, I have to make
a new batch.

      Title: Sweet Cabbage
 Categories: Side dish, Vegetables, Hungarian
      Yield: 6 servings

MMMMM-----AMERICAN MEASUREMENTS----
      6 lb Cabbage
  1 1/2 oz Onions
  1 1/3 oz Flour
      2 oz Lard
           Salt
           Caraway seed
           Parsley

MMMMM-----EUROPEAN MEASUREMENTS----
      3 kg Cabbage
     45 g  Onions
     40 g  Flour
     50 g  Lard
           Salt
           Caraway seed
           Parsley

  Take a nice, white, hard head of cabbage, and cut it into slices
  half an inch in width. Boil in salt and water with a few caraway
  seeds. When almost done, thicken with a delicately browned roux
  made of flour, lard and chopped onions. A little parsley may be
  added.
  Cooked this way cabbage is very tasty, and is usually served
  with fresh or smoked pork, but is equally delicious with lamb or
  mutton.
