OK I'll yield the 10 to 14 year old demographic to you as well.

My sampling came up with just 2 of the world's inhabitants.

That one is harder to refute. You might possibly have a point after all.

The under nine set have an enormous indirect impact; it's the whining
and pleading factor. Even 2 year old Lexi has definite likes and
dislikes and her tastes tend to be expensive. Her favourite pastimes
are shopping with Grandma and getting her way.

Really? No seriously, is it? I generally encounter lemon, lime and
orange plus, sometimes, other natural fruit flavours. But not blue.

On another food front: Chloe is becoming a militant vegetarian and
is trying to convert the whole family. Michele has always been a most
modest meat eater, mostly organic or wild meat and mostly presented so
that it doesn't show its animal origin.... boneless, skinless chicken
breasts chopped up and tossed in pasta and sauce, cold cuts on pizza
etc. She is bowing to pressure from her daughter. Sebastian is immune to
this trend as he works at a steak house after school until 10 PM (he used
to work at Dominos but is moving up in the world) and gets staff
suppers. And Ray is in camp at the mine four days a week.

We had a family birthday party for one of my BILs last Sunday and the
main dish was lasagne. Neekha scarfed down three huge helpings; it is
not her norm to be so carnivorous or so gluttonous. So I asked what was
up with her appetite and she said she hadn't had meat for a week and
missed it terribly. I was not pleased and had a quiet word with her Dad.
On Monday when I took her home from her after school program at five as
I do daily I made a point of having a jerky snack in the car instead of
the usual cookie. She was extremely grateful. Then we stopped at a store
and got a week's supply of jerky and pepperoni snacks for the glove
compartment; we chose meats that could stand re-freezing and re-warming
more than once safely.

She went into a major but very articulate rant about vegetarianism,
democracy, nutrition and kid's rights ending with, "I can't imagine not
being able to ever eat bacon again. If the vegetarians take over the
world and make meat illegal I will kill myself."

I suggested she kill the vegetarians instead and then eat THEM.

She was initially horrified, then started grinning devilishly at the
thought. Sounding like a weird fusion of a little girl and bad old
Richard Nixon at the same time she then said, "but that would be....
wrong." I had to howl. She of course has no idea who Nixon was but it
was eerie how she mimicked him.

Her final instructions were, "sneak lots of after school snacks, huge
packages of jerky, big bundles of pepperoni, ham sandwiches, bacon
sandwiches." I suggested cold bacon would not taste very good. "Cold
bacon is better than no bacon at all. Smuggle it in the car."
