I'll say hi to her tomorrow when she calls, now I'm in Albuquerque New 
Mexico...left Bodega on Thursday, stopped off in Hayward to visit with a 
friend tried to visit a friend in Oakland (great flamenco player and superb 
guitar builder) but he wouldn't come to the phone(grin),so I made it as far as 
Barstow and stayed there last night, and came east today. Stopped for an 
hour in Kingman to visit an old shipmate and the rest of the day was cruising 
the west going east (grin). I have to say I really love driving, I love driving

across wonderful country as well. Today was a great day for driving too. Lots 
of mountains, lots of rocks, incredible views from mountain tops and vast 
valleys laid out like a checkerboard. I travelled east on I-40 which runs 
parallel to the old route 66 in many spots...it's sort of like driving by a
history 
lesson. Looking over at the old signs from 1950's motor courts ,and gas 
stations, and skeletons of old adobe homesteads. There are still lots of 
billboards touting the next "Indian rugs" Jewelry, and polished petrefied wood 
or meteorite shop. It was a great day for driving....I loved the red mesa's 
glowing in the afternoon light and even the brief snow storm I drove through 
as I crossed the continental divide. Got to spend an hour and a half in a six 
mile long traffic tie up partly due to construction, partly due to the police 
finding a body alongside the road somewhere as well. Even that part was fun 
if you discount the incredible need to find a bathroom and NO way to do it 
(grin).

Made really good time across a big strech of Arizona...had a testarossa pass 
me and I tried to keep up with him for about 35 minutes or so...it's nice to 
have someone willing to do a hundred miles an hour and run cover for you 
(grin). Speed limit was 75 and I set the cruise at 84 and enjoyed the 
ride....of course when the red sports car was ahead of me I went up to 95 
for a while 8-)

Anne arrives tomorrow and we can start "vacationing"!!
