That's the guy, June '05. They ended up having extra seats, so
they invited his troublemaking mean-drunk sister (if you and
AJ had been able to make it, he could have said, oh, rats, we're
full up) and some teenage friends of the kids.

Good for you - as you may remember my writing, when Carol and I went
out to the Sonoran Desert, it rained cats and dogs. Last night Ella
Lou and I were watching the Science Channel show about deserts, and
they made this big thing about the Sonoran being so dry, and I just
about laughed my head off.

I've had some pretty tough sausage lately - I think they're not
putting enough fat into the grind, so you get a dry, tough bite
- but can think you're being virtuous while working your jaws.

Not something I'd think of doing in the desert southwest!

Chalone? A fairly good house.

The only disappointment I had was the small size of the collection.
I've been to several exhibitions (the best at the Palace of Something
in San Francisco) that were tons more extensive. Of course, just having
one piece (as the Arizona State University Museum does, which I visited
a while back) is a feather in the cap of many institutions, so I should
not fuss.

Add to highball. Fill with lemon/lime soda. Mix gently over ice.
