So, we triggered some memories for you!  I lived in southeast AZ (Fort
Huachuca) for 8 years and tentativly plan to go back to that area after
Steve gets out of the Army. It is a pretty area; we were not too
thrilled with it at first but ended up falling in love with it.
The food of the area was good too--lots of Mexican influences in it.

Yes, there are lots of duplicate "famous" place names in NM.  We did
take the Rte 26cut off to Hatch in Demming but Steve wouldn't let me get
a rista (too long a drive and not sure of when we'd get housing or how
well it would keep were the reasons he gave) for my chili pepper supply.

How long did it take you to do the hike and what made (besides the beer)
you decide to do it?  One of the best things we encountered in NM is
hortchata; it's my drink of choice in a Mexican eatery now.
