 DS> Subject:  Bad Things 666.  Heh.  You did that on purpose.

Mostly I have refrained from using that number on those
who might get a little queasy at it. I've used it on you
at least once. As I've said here, I'm not a literalist,
and I've been paid for 222 pages at $3 a page at least
once in my life. When Groucho, Chico, Harpo, and Gummo
come down with their scythes, I'm pretty sure they won't
look for people with numbers tattooed to their foreheads.

The fries used to be okay, what with the suet (or was it
suet-flavored oil) used to cook them. Haven't had any in a
long time. When I moved, a decade ago, I ate there once, and
when the Arch Deluxe came out, I had a coupon so got one
for free. Since then, no Mickey Dee.

   The final straw for me came when they started doing all
 DS> actual cooking (except for deep-fried stuff) off-site and just heating
 DS> things up "on demand."

I will have to go and do an experiment sometime.

   I make an exception for their sausage,
 DS> however: spicy and meaty, with just the right amount of fat and

You and I, we like gristly little treats. What about their
more normal clientele?

The last BK I went to was a Hungry Jack, back in '02. The
burger was okay, but the witch's brew of beets, fried egg,
cheese, and burger made me queasy. Before that, I don't
recall the last time, but certainly not in this millennium.

I've eaten twice at the Dog - once when I was in high school,
and we were cruising around in this silly manner; and once
back in the '80s or early '90s after a gig in New Hampshire,
when Ella Lou insisted on stopping by one. I don't know if I
actually ordered anything or just ate off her sizable order,
but I recall the chicken taquitos as being not too awful.

h - Arch Deluxe Secret Sauce
1 Tb mayonnaise
1/2 ts Grey Poupon Specialty peppercorn mustard
h - Ingredients
1 sesame seed hamburger bun (potato roll style with split crown)
1/4 lb Topp's beef patty
1 sl American cheese
1 to 2 sl tomato
1 to 2 lettuce leaves, chopped
1 Tb ketchup
1 Tb chopped white onion
McDonald's hamburger seasoning

1. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and the Dijon
mustard. Set aside. This is the secret sauce.

2. Toast the face of each of the buns on a griddle.

3. Follow Quarter-Pounder cooking instructions for the beef patty.

4. Dress your BUN in the following order: On the crown (top bun)
special sauce
ketchup
onions
lettuce
tomato
cheese

5. Add the cooked beef patty then the toasted heel.

If you want an Arch Deluxe with bacon, pre-cook some thick
sliced Hormel® pepper bacon, breaking one slice
per burger in half. Lay the halves side by side on top of the
cheese before adding the meat. (Or just use thick
sliced bacon, adding a dash of pepper when cooking)
