Wis. Festival Sells Deep-Fried Testicles

ELDERON, Wis. (AP) - Around here, it may be tough to pass up anything
deep-fried.

Wisconsinites have deep-fried cheese curds, candy bars and Twinkies.
They now have deep-fried livestock testicles, too.

More than 300 people paid $5 for all-you-can-eat goat, lamb and bull
testicles Saturday at the ninth annual Testicle Festival at Mama's Place
Bar and Grill in Elderon in central Wisconsin.

"Once you get over the mental (aspect) of what you're eating, it's just
like eating any other food, and it tastes good," Buster Hoffman said.

Festival founder Nancy Fenske said the festival grew out of her late
husband Roger's birthday party 12 years ago. They decided to have "a nut
fry" at Mama's Place after bringing back lamb fries from a trip to
Montana.

The event grew every year and now they fry up to 100 pounds of
testicles, she said.

"What else can you do in a small town?" Fenske said.

Butch Joubert, 58, likes the parts sandwiched between bread with tartar
sauce. They're not so different from regular meatballs also served at
the festival, he said.

"After a few beers, you can't really tell the difference," Joubert said.

I've had a lot more experience with Turkey "Fryes" and with bovine or 
ovine or porcine "oysters". They are relatively common around here in a 
number of restaurant venues. Texture is much like a chicken gizzard.

MMMMM----- Meal Master Recipe

      Title: Butterflied Turkey Fryes
 Categories: Poultry, Exotic, Offal
      Yield: 7 Servings

      3 lb Fresh turkey fryes
      1 lb Flour
           Salt & Pepper

MMMMM---------------------------SAUCE--------------------------------
    1/2 c  Heinz catsup
      1 tb Mayonnaise
      3 tb Trappey's Hot Sauce 
      2 tb Worcestershire sauce
      3 tb Lemon juice fresh squeezed

  Stir sauce ingredients together and refrigerate until
  time to eat.
 
  Heat fryer to 350-degrees.

  Rinse fryes under cold running water and pat them dry with a 
  paper towel. Make a lengthwise slit in each frye, almost 
  cutting in half but not going all the way through (butterfly). 
  Dredge in the seasoned flour and fry immediately. 

  Have a platter with a towel to drain your fryes on.

  Serve the fryes with your favorite sauce.

Just wondering what would happen. I offered once to toss a drunken lout 
off the top row of the grandstands at an event which he was spoiling for 
my party of friends. I didn't have to do it as he believed me.  Bv)=

Well, that was the other way around for the event I had in mind - what 
with the boor doing the lashing out at being asked to "siddown and 
sharrop!" Of course anal vents never understand that they are anal
