I will never wait for a table at a place that doesn't make
reservations. Not ever. They either make and honour reservations or
they happen to have an available table when I drop by.

I've never been there; Roslind has though on solo trips to town. She
used to like it but says it's gone downhill on quality lately and is
trading on its reputation.


MMMMM-----Meal-Master - formatted by MMCONV  2.10

     Title: Molasses Flax Bread
Categories: Canadian, Breads
  Servings: 2 loaves

      2 TB (30 mL) active dry yeast
  1 1/4 c  (300 mL) warm water
      1 ts (5 mL) granulated sugar
      1 c  (250 mL) buttermilk
      2 TB (30 mL) canola oil
    1/4 c  960 mL) molasses
    1/4 c  (60 mL) maple syrup
      2 ts (10 mL) salt
      1 c  (250 mL) flax meal
      3 c  (750 mL) whole wheat flour
      3 c  (750 mL) all-purpose flour
      1 TB (15 mL) margarine, melted
      1 TB (15 mL) maple syrup

Sprinkle yeast over warm water and sugar and let stand in warm place
for 10 minutes or until yeast is dissolved. When dissolved, stir in
buttermilk, canola oil, molasses, maple syrup, salt and flax meal. 

Add whole wheat flour and 2 cups of all-purpose flour to form a
sticky dough. Knead 8 to 10 minutes while working in the remaining 1
cup (250 mL) of flour. Put in oiled bowl, turn to oil top and let
rice until double in bulk. Punch down, divide into 2 and either
shape into round loaves on baking sheets or put into two 5 x 9 inch
(13 x 23 cm) loaf pans. Let rise again. Bake at 375  F - 400  F (190
C - 200  C) degrees for 30 minutes.

Combine margarine and maple syrup in small bowl. Brush over loaves.
Sprinkle corn meal if desired.
