There could be a certain logic in something like that, forbidding
marriage/mating between the RH+ and RH-, whereby a baby may be born
with blood incompatable with its mother, necessitating an immediate
blood transfusion after birth.

Ah, understood.  Never having been associated with anything
prestigious, that thought had not occurred to me.

We asked about that, but after having previously assured us that the
uneaten food was all thrown out, the waiter became all shifty-eyed and
vague and waffled on about it not being hotel policy...  (g)

The Hyatt is a prestige hotel favoured by visiting Americans.  (Need
more be said?)

In my impecunious youth I and my friends often dined at a restaurant
run by a Yugoslav family, where the un-served food went into the soup
pot, which was emptied and re-started on weekends.  The richness of
that soup developed during the week, and it was magnficent by Friday.
Some university students lived almost exclusively on that soup, which
(I think) was a shilling a large bowl, or one and sixpence for soup
with unlimited home-made bread.  It usually had a gulyas base, with
cabbage rolls and other Slavonic dishes added as they became available.

So you have seen it?  Did you like it?

Most of the image-conscious Japanese business men I associated with on
my official visits there averted their faces when passing such "box
people", so naturally I asked about them.  I was told, in a low voice,
that the government frequently collected these people and gave them
somewhere to live, but they then ungratefully escaped and returned to
their itinerant cardboard box existence.  It seems that a very rigid
society like that of Japan breeds a few who are fiercely and
determinedly rebellious.
