I still don't see why not add deliberate random misprints to a
pre-encoding message, things that the decoder will be able to
figure out didn't belong but which would futz with probability
tables and stuff like that.

I'd go if my friends wanted to. Carol and I have been by
both dozens of times and have never gone in.

That's usually the way I approach ice cream or vanilla custard.
I admit that apple snails have nowhere near the appeal of ice
cream or vanilla custard. Even bad store-brand ice cream that's
so old that it's got ice crystals on the top and something else
crystals elsewhere.

I don't know why I figured this joke would be appropriate for
this place in the conversation, but this was told to me by one
of my conductors yesterday.
  A man walks into a pet shop, wants to buy a parrot.
  The shop clerk shows him three birds. The first one
  is $10,000. "What does he do?" "Watch this." The
  parrot opens his mouth and sings a Bach aria,
  flawlessly. That's great! And the second? $25,000.
  "What does he do?" And the parrot whistles the
  Beethoven violin concerto, all the parts, sounds
  like the  Berlin Phil, flawlessly. "Wow! What about
  the third one over here?" $50,000. "What does he do?"
  "I haven't figured it out yet, but the other two bow
  down to him and call him 'Maestro.'"

Custard in orange cups
cat: dessert
serves: 12

14 lg egg yolks
1 c packed brown sugar
3 qt heavy cream
1/3 c Grand Marnier
1 Tb vanilla
1/4 ts nutmeg, fresh
1/4 ts cinnamon
12 md oranges
3/4 c sugar
1 pt raspberries
12 mint leaves
3 fresh unsprayed roses, julienned

Whisk yolks and brown sugar. Scald cream and add whisk in. Whisk
in next 4 ingredients. Pour into 9 x 13" baking dish and set
aside for 20 min. Skim top to remove bubbles. Bake in water bath
for 90 min at 275F or until custard is set but soft. Remove and
let cool to room temp; cover with wrap and refrigerate.

Cut 1/2" off top of each orange and a thin slice off the bottom
to steady. Remove orange pulp with a spoon (use elsewhere).
Fill cavities with custard to top of orange; just before serving,
sprinkle sugar over and broil until caramelized. Place oranges
on dessert plates and garnish with berries, leaves, and roses.
