Administering something called RhoGAM to the pregnant mother if it
is detected early. (It wasn't with Charlee; nobody knew until she
was born jaundiced.) Massive blood transfusions for the infant right
after birth otherwise.

But of course. Stupid me.

And it turns out she need not undergo surgery; the non-functioning
kidney is perfectly benign in situ. We are all relieved by that.

Another use for sesame oil:

MMMMM-----Meal-Master - formatted by MMCONV  2.10

     Title: Peppercorn Crusted Flat Iron Steak Salad
Categories: Canadian, Beef, Steak
  Servings: 4

      3 TB Cracked black pepper
      4    6 oz Flat iron steaks
      2 ts Kosher salt
    1/2 lg head Romaine lettuce, washed
           dried, ripped into bite
           sized pieces.
    2/3 c  Unsalted roasted peanuts
           DRESSING:
    1/2 c  Peanut butter
      6 TB Roasted cashews, chopped
    1/4 c  Soy sauce
    1/2 c  Rice vinegar
    1/4 c  Garlic, mashed
      2 ts Jalapeno pepper, seeds
           removed, minced
      1    Canola oil
    1/4 c  Sesame oil
      1 TB Fresh mint, chopped
    1/4 c  Fresh cilantro, chopped
    1/4 c  Hot water

Cracked Peppercorn Crusted Alberta Flat Iron Steak Salad with
Indonesian Cashew Sate Vinaigrette

Use fresh cracked pepper not ground pepper. Cracked pepper is a much
nicer crunchier texture and will stick properly to the meat

Flat Iron steaks are new on the scene and are becoming popular for
their tender texture and rich beefy flavour. One steak is
approximately 6oz and is a perfect portion for one. This recipe is
simple, fresh, fast and light and will feed 4.

Method

Preheat the BBQ to medium high.

Pour the cracked pepper onto a clean cutting board and spread it out
in a thin layer.

Press each steak into the pepper, pressing very firmly to embed the
pepper on all sides of the meat. Use more pepper than you think you
need because some of it will be lost in the cooking process.
Sprinkle each steak with kosher salt.

While you are waiting for the BBQ to heat up whisk together all of
the ingredients for the dressing in a small bowl. Or make the
dressing the day before and keep it in the fridge.

BBQ the steaks only until they are rare. This will take 3-5 minutes
a side depending on the heat of your BBQ.

Arrange the Romaine on 4 plates. Slice the cooked Flat Iron steaks
in thin slices and fan them out on top of the lettuce. Sprinkle on
the roast peanuts and liberally drizzle on the dressing.
