====================
Hi Hap,

 hn> Happy Father's day to Steve!

I'll pass it on to him. He spent several hours getting the sound to
work in my system yesterday.

-> hn> occaisions and he's always welcome for another go round!

-> We had to go to HI to get to meet him. (G)

 hn> Well oddly enough it's less out of the way than fort Waaaaah Chooka!

Yes, but that's where I was introduced to Fido and the Cooking echo, in
January, 1994.

->  hn> prefer SUNSET

-> I got a couple of samples of that while we were in AZ; it did look good
-> but the budget didn't look as good at the time.

 hn> It was a guilty pleasure for us always, but we did always find a way
 hn> to fund it!

We had regularly funded magazines (that we still get) and had both girls
at home.

-> hn> magazine (very comparable to "Southern Living") and that's the one

-> Saw a copy of SL in the doctor's office today (check up on the foot);
-> had a recipe for grilled tomatoes and okra. A note said that grilling
-> the okra (about 5 minutes, total, turning once) would get rid of the
-> sliminess. Showed that to Steve but he sounded doubtful so I guess we'll
-> have to try it for ourselves. Basically, toss a pound or so of okra and
-> a pint of cherry tomatoes in a bit of Italian dressing, salt & pepper,
-> grill for 3 minutes, take tomatoes off and turn okra, grilling for a
-> couple more minutes. We'd reduce the quantitiy for the 2 of us.

 hn> I'm with Steve on this one...I doubt that the okra would be good
 hn> enough to prompt me to do anything more than give it a try...it's one
 hn> of the very few foods I don't care for!

We may give it a try just to see if it works as advertised. (G)

-> BTW, news on the foot--healing, not quite as sensitive to doctor's
-> poking & prodding, back in 6 months. Work on graduating off from use
-> of cane as extra support; I'm doing that some around the house but still
-> make sure I have it for out and about.

 hn> That's great news! If they are saying come back in six months that
 hn> means you're pretty much back to being on your own! It's when they say
 hn> come back next week and we'll have another look, that you have to
 hn> worry about!

Don't I know! It's been going on for so long that people in our Sunday
School class were happy to see I was in sandals yesterday instead of
walking shoes. When the weather cools down in a few months, I'll be
able to wear my boots again.

-> hn> good time for relaxing reading for me (and prepping for the school
->  hn> week for Anne). ->

-> Isn't she out for the summer yet? Rachel finished last week but will be
-> teaching summer school starting next week.  Talked to her last night;
-> she said that Robert helped her make a fruit salad by cutting up a
-> banana with a butter knife. He likes working in the kitchen so we may

 hn> Anne won't be out till late this coming week, 22nd or 23rd I think.
 hn> Lots of snow days to make up this year! Not so much due to real snow
 hn> but the
 hn> associated power outages that took several days to remedy....tough to
 hn> have school in a dark and unheated school building!

No fun at all! When I was in school, we usually got out the latter part
of June so these that finished in May were a surprise to me. Had about
5 snow days built into the calendar and some were needed into April.

 hn> Amanda surprised me by coming up from CA for Father's day..I am
 hn> blessed! It's so good to see her and have her close enough to hug! We
 hn> went out for sushi last night and had a great time! She leaves on
 hn> Wednesday so I have a couple of full days left to enjoy with

Nice! Steve talked to both of his girls but over dinner was wishing
they could be here to enjoy it with us. The girls will be getting
together nest week end; Rachel and David are selling their house in AZ
and are coming down for the last bit of paper work. Wonder if they're
going to the Itailian place where we enjoyed several good meals with
them.

-> -> lots of odd jobs to do before I start on any big projects again.

-> hn> Welcome to Summer in the South...where ambition melts like butter
-> hn> out on the counter....heat and humidity can suck the very life out of
-> hn> a day's chores. Turn the Air Conditioner down to 54 and you'll get

-> Plus had the wind taken out of my sails with a minor surgical procedure
-> (biopsy) yesterday morning. I should get back into the full swing of
-> things next week. I may even get busy and try adapting our old hand
-> made bread recipe into use with the bread machine. We found the secret
-> to getting a pretty loaf without a fallen in top--use cool water from

 hn> Hope the biopsy comes back with a good result! Anne made me have one

I'm waiting; should know later this week.

 hn> done last month on an odd growth on my arm...happily it came back
 hn> "normal" and now all I have is a tiny scar to show for it!

Good; Steve had a couple done last month as skin cancer is in his family
history but they came back negative. With mine, they put a titanium
"marker" in, in case future surgery is needed. Old ounce of prevention
thing, they believe it's probably nothing but want to make sure.

Catch you later,
