====================================================================
Hi Hap,

-> hn> Well oddly enough it's less out of the way than fort Waaaaah Chooka!

-> Yes, but that's where I was introduced to Fido and the Cooking echo, in
-> January, 1994.

 hn> And a pretty interesting area...but still quite out of the way in
 hn> terms of locale!

Yes, but we ended up really liking the area and hope to retire out
somewhere out there eventually.

-> hn> It was a guilty pleasure for us always, but we did always find a way
->  hn> to fund it!

-> We had regularly funded magazines (that we still get) and had both girls
-> at home.

 hn> I have a couple of photography magazines that I've subscribed to so
 hn> long that they are a fixture in our house (grin).

Same with us and a couple of regular magazines and a couple of sewing
specific. My dad has all but the first Model Railroader magazines; I
can't afford to do that with our moving every so often.

-> -> Saw a copy of SL in the doctor's office today (check up on the foot);
-> -> had a recipe for grilled tomatoes and okra. A note said that grilling
-> -> the okra (about 5 minutes, total, turning once) would get rid of the
-> -> sliminess. Showed that to Steve but he sounded doubtful so I guess

-> hn> I'm with Steve on this one...I doubt that the okra would be good
-> hn> enough to prompt me to do anything more than give it a try...it's one

-> We may give it a try just to see if it works as advertised. (G)

 hn> Good luck! We always (well I always...Anne will point them out to me)
 hn> browse through Sunset to look for interesting recipes to try.

I go thru several on a regular basis. The one I got the mango chicken
from is one I don't subscribe to but see at my MIL's.

-> -> BTW, news on the foot--healing, not quite as sensitive to doctor's
-> -> poking & prodding, back in 6 months. Work on graduating off from use

-> hn> That's great news! If they are saying come back in six months that
-> hn> means you're pretty much back to being on your own! It's when they

-> Don't I know! It's been going on for so long that people in our Sunday
-> School class were happy to see I was in sandals yesterday instead of
-> walking shoes. When the weather cools down in a few months, I'll be
-> able to wear my boots again.

 hn> "She's got TOES everybody!! LOOOK!! REAL toes!! (grin)"

And they wiggle! I'm basically running around the house without the
cane--sure is handy working in the kitchen without having to grab it all
the time. I can use 2 hands instead of one or "Steve, come here and get
this for me, please".

-> hn> Anne won't be out till late this coming week, 22nd or 23rd I think.

-> No fun at all! When I was in school, we usually got out the latter part
-> of June so these that finished in May were a surprise to me. Had about

 hn> Anne will be finished on Saturday...she has to move classrooms this
 hn> year as she is going to teach Second Grade next year again...Saturday
 hn> is a "make up" day for the teachers because one of their "work days

Such is life. And, if she's like most teachers, she will spend a good
bit of summer working to make sure thngs are in order for the first day
of school.

 hn> with out kids" got taken over by snow days. She should be finished by
 hn> then....I hope! I'm not helping this year because I'm scheduled to
 hn> work every ball game this month and will be at the ballpark almost
 hn> every day till the end of the month.

Such a hardship! (G)

-> hn> Amanda surprised me by coming up from CA for Father's day..I am

-> Nice! Steve talked to both of his girls but over dinner was wishing
-> they could be here to enjoy it with us. The girls will be getting
-> together nest week end; Rachel and David are selling their house in AZ

 hn> It was wonderful to have her here, and always hard to see her go back
 hn> to "her own life", but it's nice to be back to just Annie and me again

Yes, I know what you mean. Last night was our first night "in" this
week. Had a change in plans. BTW, Steve took a couple of casseroles
over to one of his fellow troops; his wife is bedridden, expecting twins
in 3 weeks. They were appreciated (more so by the wife I think) but
Steve found out this guy is a certified (whatever that means) Italian
chef. I told him I could be certified crazy some times. (G)
