Howdy Folks :)

First -- I'm really sorry that FidoTel went down for so long... I took a 
business trip to Fayetteville, NC in an attempt to network with perspective 
employers, and those thunderstorms that rolled through my area knocked out 
power.  When they did -- I guess it was out for so long the UPS shut down. 
It is setup to turn back on after power comes back on, but something didn't 
function just right and the server never came back up.

What's going on:  As most of you know, I live in Virginia Beach -- and I'm 
in the Navy.  I retire from the Navy on the 24th of July and I'm looking for 
work.  I'd like to find something in Dallas, TX -- because that's where I'm 
from and my daughter's mother lives there (I have full custody of my 13yr 
old), or FT Bragg, NC (because the cost of living is cheap).  So far, I 
haven't found much....  But -- I do have another interview scheduled "here" 
in Virginia Beach next week (good job opportunity).  So, I've rescheduled 
the movers for 6 Aug.  This means -- Fidotel will remain up until a few days 
before the packers come (round the 2nd or 3rd or so) of August.

If I get this job and stay here, I don't know.... I may leave it up a while 
longer...  I rent a house and I want to buy. I haven't been able to do that 
on a sailor's pay, but I might with this new job.  And so -- I may "move" 
anyway -- even if I say in the area just so that I can buy and move into a 
house.  In which case, I may close Fidotel down anyway.  I'm paying for the 
equiv of a T1 line, and with a new house payment, this is one of the luxury 
items that I may have to budget out.

So -- the bottom line is that FidoTel is up until the first of August -- and 
no promises after that.  If I get this job, then it will stay open a little 
longer, but it will likely be shut down in another month or two or three 
down the road.

Thank you to everyone for your concern -- I've really enjoyed having FidoTel 
online!  Ya know -- it used to be called, "Deathgrip" (back in the '80's), 
then it was the "Trash Can BBS" (early 90's), and then "TeleServe" back in 
the mid 90's, until "FidoTel" in '98 (bit of history).
