In short: no, yes, yes. The taste of pate and braunschweiger
is a nice mixture of liver, spices and herbs, and usually
onions or garlic. Fried liver doesn't disguise itself, and
you either like it or not. Scrapple is mostly a pleasantly
porky product with little nuggets of strong liver (which,
after all, has been boiled first); the bits, well, you
either like the taste or totally hate it.

Yep: I'd bug you for a recipe [g], but I'll just tell folks
how I do it: you take your cheese in thin slices and lay it
in a single layer on a cold nonstick or seasoned cast-iron
skillet. Nonstick spray helps. Then you cook it over low heat
until it's done, turning once if you like. I have often made
mozzarella or Cheddar lace that way (it is great as a salad
garnish or to eat by itself).

But if you plan your trips in advance, you can take advantage
of the Internet booking rates, which in most cases are identical
to the AAA and AARP rates. I never bothered to join AARP myself
but might consider it in a decade or so. The problem there is
that even though it may have the purchasing clout of millions of
members, most of those members are still older than I am, so it
can't compete with the better commercial products (for me, yet).

Boiled Crabs
cat: shellfish, Australian, New Orleans
servings: 6 to 12

100 g salt
4 cloves garlic
4 onions, not peeled, halved
4 lemons halved
30 g cayenne pepper (yes, 30 g)
3 to 4 dozen crabs
enough water to cover

Bring seasonings to boil and keep boiling for 10 min.
Add crabs, cook for approximately 5 min or until they float.
Turn off the heat. Let crabs soak for 10 min before
removing from the water, cool and clean. Eat and enjoy.
