============================
Hi Carol,

CS> a typo for Elise but a guy upstairs) sheepishly produced the end tail
CS> of some tape stuff we use on the ship for antennas and radars.

RH> Sounds like fun. I'm sure they were cadging munchies from various sto
RH> along the way as well.

CS> Snicker, what else? They got most of my gifted Jicama tonight as
CS> jicama crisps (raw sliced, lightly salted then spice with a little of
CS> the japanese 5 chili powder spice and dipped in vinigar).

Sounds like a nice treat. I spent part of the morning putting the
spices I got at the Indian store (and the mint from the Italian store in
Rochester) in bottles. Didn't have but one proper spice bottle so some
of them got put in pill containers with snap off lids. Figured they
would work just as well. (G) Then I stripped the dried rosemary a
friend gave me a few weeks ago from the branches; had a couple of green
thumbs and index fingers for a while. The green is mostly gone but
there's still a faint air of rosemary on them. (G)

CS> a short wave radio station going with the music off MP3's. Charlotte
CS> unaccountably, is off playing dolls this time with what i call the
 CS> 'giggle gaggle girls'.

RH> Well, she's probably having fun doing something non geekish for a
RH> change. (G)

CS> That too! I worry a little but not much as she always seems to play
CS> more with the boys. The girls get jealous about it when the really
CS> cute ones are talking techie with Charlotte and they cant follow.

Well, in a few weeks the other girls won't be feeling jealous. (G)

CS> They get along well enough though as Charlotte has access to all my
CS> makeup and takes it over for 'lets play makeup, Mom says you have to
CS> do that lots before it gets natural'. Apparently most of the Mom's
CS> dont have a grunch of play stuff or don't want it messed up so don't
CS> lend it out. Me, I almost never waer it so it doesnt bother me. I

I don't have a lot but the girls used it in high school for performances
before they got their own. I never played around with it as a kid as my
mom doesn't have anything but lipstick so today I use none to very
little unless it's a command formal event. Even then it's rather
minimal.

CS> have like 3 items out of 40 Charlotte knows arent for play. Rest,
CS> she's welcome to. OHH and I got her a lipstick I keep borrowing when
CS> I go out with Don so .. Fair play eh?

I guess so. (G) She probably thinks she has the better end of the deal
on it. You bought it and she uses it most of the time so an every so
often borrow shouldn't be that bad.

RH> BTW, I've mentioned that my younger brother bought our 18 cubic foot
RH> freezer when Steve went into the Army--saw him on the trip and he said

CS> Those things never die <g>.

RH> It will, but he's sure gotten his money out of it.

 CS> Yes, sure has!

I know, my parents have had one for 34 years. We've not kept one long
enough to let it die; the one we bought in 1997 we left in HI with a
young family that needed the extra chill room.

CS> Had a friend ages ago. He had the old 1920's ice chest thing. They'd
CS> stoped using it when you couldnt get ice delivered anymore. He
CS> started using it again for beer parties with bagged ice and then noted
CS> the 'blue cubes' let him make his own at home so kept using it that
CS> way for a beer cooler in his garage.

For a while, we had an old fridge in one of the places we lived. No
idea how old but the door had no shelves, the freezer was about 18"
square and had a slot for one ice tray underneath it. We replaced it
with our $50. "wonder" fridge--wondered how old it was, what brand it
was, etc. It ran well for about 6 years, then had a problem just a few
weeks before Steve went into the Army. It was going with the place we
were selling so Steve patched it and the thing was still running when we
left for good so we (used to) wonder how much longer it would last.

Catch you later,
Ruth
