Go gently with them - I've had varying success with sharpening scissors in
that kind of sharpener (and one of my Chef's Choice sharpeners does have
a scissors slot.)

The problem with scissors is that various types of shears have different
honing angles depending upon what they are used for.  Paper shears have a
different angle from tailor's shears, which are also often different from
poultry shears.  Those old Wiss trimmers of yours were probably honed at a
fabric angle (which will, of course, cut anything - they're just most 
effective for cloth) and you can easily ruin them if the new angle doesn't
match the old one.

Whatever you do: DON'T try to sharpen them with one of the "folklore" methods
you might have heard of - cutting through sandpaper, or "cutting" against the
lip of a glass.  In either case, all you will do is trash the scissors even
further, and create a LOT more work for yourself as you attempt to get a good
edge again.

The best way is to just run a good small whetstone over the bevel edge of the 
scissor blades to restore them.  The angle you're looking for is about 12
degrees, but you don't need to have a clamp or jig or anything.  Just have 
Steve hold the whetstone in one hand and match the existing angle as he holds
the blade in the other hand, and do both blades.  You'll be surprised, it will
only take a light "dressing" to bring your scissors back to life.
