Well, I did have one recipe for it. 'Crock of Fennel Cocka-doo' or
something like that.  I wanted to try something different and stuffed a
fennel bulb in a chicken then crockpotted it.  The difference was it
came out with an almost consomme-like jellied broth that was really
excellent. The fennel itself i seem to recall became a soft mushy
filling that we actually liked well enough to MM it and have made it a
few times since then but not here.  Fennel is something I havent noted
here.  Possibly 'seasonal' and i just didnt shop at the right time?

Wouldnt suprise me!  When trying to reach for 'engrish' you get all
sorts of things out here.  It's almost sure to be the same critter but
grown locally.  Tonoo market isnt a place to find anything other than
locally caught fish and locally grown produce.

That it is!  We are eating simple at home tonight. Most nights though we
have invites for if we want to 'eat out'.  We are doing the local
traditional thing here.  We bring over some of the kitchen flotsam with
us like just a few days ago we brought over some 15 packets of mixed
gravy types and other things (2 of them pancit seasonings).  Since these
generally cost about 1$ each here, it's a decent trade for a meal for 3
at home cooked prices.

I will tell you there have been a few who don't trade back well, but
they generally find their invites are sparse long before they leave.
Mostly they just dont realize how it all works out even and the majority
seem to catch on once one of us quietly explains 'how it works out
even'.

Actually thats badly phrased.  Most folks instinctively get this one and
the tendancy at first with how we trade stuff, is to give too much.
Eventually they get the idea that if they are asked if they have a
couple of eggs, we mean 2-3, not a dozen (grin).
