Mary Baker Eddy had a telephone hooked up in her mausoleum so she
could report on the afterworld, but no calls came out of there,
and eventually the line was disconnected for lack of payment.

Hank Steinbrenner, taking right after his father, said with
crocodile tears that the Yankees had sooo wished Torre would
accept the deal. But as I understand it, the offer was worded
so that there was a snowball's chance in Hell that any self-
respecting adult would accept it, much less a prideful man
such as he.

Never figured this out. You have CVS and Rite Aid kitty corner
from each other, Dunkin' Donuts and Tim Horton's across the
street, BJ's and Sam's within shouting distance of each other.
Are the companies so arrogant as to think that they are so
superior that they can knock out the other?

Speaking of which, I don't remember if I said this, but I recently
went to Tim Horton's, just for giggles, and tried samples of
three of their doughnuts - the cake ones were average, the honey-
dips were well below average, and the sour-cream glazed were quite
good, actually, but not enough for me to actually seek out a Tim
Horton's, especially if there's a Dunkin's nearby. I also had a
hazelnut Hot Smoothee, which turns out to be an inferior sort of
caffe latte with many shots of syrup, enough to give one diabetes
I think.

I was kind of good at the really theoretical stuff but wasn't really
up to speed on the calculus thing: going through my father's stuff
last week I found a page of thermodynamic equations: I couldn't make
head or tail of them. Of course, I really hated math (though was said
to be good at it at one point).
