I think 4000000.00 a year is quite a reward, although the
boon of not working for Steinbrenner might be worth 3000000.00
at least.

There used to be something in the dignity of the quiet despair
of the Sox or Cubs fan. Now the Sox are a major power, all
sorts of riffraff have joined the bandwagon. I guess old-time
Sox fans were into Greek tragedy; new-time fans appear to be
more the Terminator type.

As Gandhi said, were he forced by starvation to eat meat to
survive, he'd pick the largest animal possible, an elephant or
cow by choice, because there would be (he did not use these
terms) more calories per life.

Salsa del povr'om
cat: sauce
yield: 1 batch

1 onion
3 shallots
2 scallions
A few cloves of garlic
1 c dry red wine
1 lemon, juice of
Salt and pepper to taste

Poor man's sauce

Grind the onions, shallots, spring onions and garlic into
a paste. Bring the wine to a boil, then stir it into the
paste. Salt the mixture to taste, and stir in the lemon
juice. Put the sauce through a strainer (or blend it until
it is very finely chopped), season it with pepper, and it
is ready.

Serve with bollito misto.
