I'm pretty darn glad I never worked in a fast food joint. I had
a few stints behind the scenes in fancy catering outfits and
white-tablecloth places, only to help out shorthanded friends,
and these were bad enough.

Chili meat is a great solution for just about everything.

Hm. For my brother's birthday celebration, he wanted to go to
Green Fields Churrascaria, which is an all-you-can-eat beef
parade, but he is a bit under the weather and may not want to
go there. Today I watched in awe as my father (88 and unable,
he says, to eat much) packed away about 10 oz of pastrami
followed by a salad with easy a quarter pound of blue cheese
(he takes Marie's brand blue cheese dressing - has 5 or 6 jars
of it in the fridge - and adds big blobs of cheese to it). We
come by our carnivorousness honestly.

Maybe Carol B. can figure it out, although she's been good
about not loading up on foreign soap when we've been traveling.

   My nose isnt

Carol's soaps are that way. I prefer ones that are actively drying,
but that's because I have oily skin and am (Carol would say) a bit
of a philistine.

Asparagus soup
cat: soup
servings: 6 to 8

2 lb asparagus
1 Tb EVOO
3 leeks, white part only
1 onion, peeled, sliced
2 potatoes, cubed
2 bay leaves
2 Tb Meyer lemon olive oil

Discard tough white ends of asparagus. Cut tips
off half the asparagus for garnish.

Chop leeks, onion, and the the intact asparagus.
Wilt in olive oil for 10 min. Add potatoes and bay
leaves; cover with water. Simmer until potatoes
are cooked. Add decapitated asparagus stems.

Puree and strain. Stir in flavored oil. Garnish
with asparagus tips.
