Interesting that USAns are waking up to the virtues of good red wine.
My faith in its benefits has been rock solid for over half a century.

That sounds logical.  Have you tried the really green meat?

I have had SB which has the cat pee flavour to a revolting degree, but
perhaps I am fortunate in that I have been unable to detect it in some
of the better NZ (and the deviant) SBs, just getting the firmness and
complexity of that assertive wine.  You have the mixed blessing of an
ultra-sensitivity to many flavours, such as cat pee.

It would have to be a very brave - or desperate - person who would
sample that brew.  He has now finished that brew, and has suggested
making a sugar-based liquor; a sort of rum wash.

      Title: COLONIAL HOT BUTTERED RUM
 Categories: Crockpot, Beverages
      Yield: 15 Servings
 
      2 c  Brown sugar
    1/2 c  Butter
      1 pn Salt
      3    Sticks cinnamon
      6    Whole cloves
    1/2 ts Nutmeg
      2 c  Rum
           Heavy cream; whipped
           Nutmeg
 
  Put all ingredients, except rum and cream and nutmeg, into crockpot.
  Add 2 quarts hot water.  Stir well. Cover pot and cook on LOW for 5
  hours. Add rum; stir to blend. Serve from pot in warm mugs with a
  scoop of whipped cream and a dusting of nutmeg.
